As a Base Medical instructor, you can deliver affordable, sustainable, standardized, yet customized in-house wilderness medicine training
How it works
Online Lessons
Students take the online lessons, which provides standardization. We provide curriculum customized to the recreation community and SAR responders, including wilderness CPR in partnership with the American Red Cross. We have the most professional program in the industry.
Hands-On Training
Your role is to deliver the in-person, hands-on training in compliance to our program standards and learning objectives. As an instructor you have autonomy over the schedule, scenario content, and further customization. As an instructor, you can work independently, with an organization, or be contracted to teach.
Student Fees
Base Medical charges a per student fee that currently ranges from $65 for WFA and to $125 for WFR. You can charge additional to turn a profit for your organization or SAR team. Many groups go from paying thousands to making thousands.
Becoming a Base Medical Instructor
1. Online Training
Complete the 8-hour online instructor training, which includes our program standards, medical lessons and competency exam, and preparation for teaching your first course.
2. Mentorship Course
You will need to attend an in-person mentorship course or remote instructor evaluation to see our program standards in action.
3. Certification Exam
Pass the online instructor exam to earn your certification and begin providing training to your community, organization, or SAR team.

Our model of education delivery is unique. Majority of our courses are delivered by our instructors or education centers. Therefore, our ideal instructor candidates are those who will teach in association with an organization or will operate independently to teach their own courses.
