Thanks to the Washington Military Department

all SAR teams and responders in the state of Washington now have unlimited access to all Base Medical online Search and Rescue courses until December 2027. Access includes discounted wilderness first aid training tailored to the SAR responder.

Courses can be used by individual responders to improve knowledge and skills or by teams to streamline and standardize training.

The first step is to register your SAR team or as an individual responder:

Below are the courses included in the statewide access. The courses are divided based on the stages of a SAR mission, which are Prepare, Locate, Access, Treat, and Extricate (PLATE). Teams can create a custom course bundle that only includes the courses required for your team. Each team will have a custom course sign up page for seamless team member enrollment.

Each team will have admin access to track team member sign up and progress. Team members must complete an exam at the end of each course to receive their certificate of completion.

Wilderness Medical Training For SAR Responders

Every SAR responder should be prepared with at least basic wilderness first aid. Access to the online wilderness first aid lessons tailored to the SAR responder is included with your team subscription. To earn a full SAR WFA certification or SAR WFR recertification SAR members can enroll in a virtual hands-on training course via Zoom or host an in-person training. Wilderness CPR for SAR responders. Base Medical has partnered with the American Red Cross to deliver a CPR program that meets national standards while maintaining alignment with the Wilderness Medical Society’s guidelines. Wilderness CPR is available for our in-person courses and will soon be available remotely by January 2025.
