About this course
This simple and empowering course offers a half-day of rescue scenarios in order to bolster rescuer confidence, critical thinking and problem solving through simulations with guidance and feedback from instructors. You will work through realistic situations in real-time with your patient and think critically under pressure. This course is offered to currently certified Base Medical WFA or WFR students and meets the required hands-on practical component for the WFR Recertification course.
There are 3 course options:
Scenario Day ($40): Certified WFA/WFR student attends in order to practice and refresh wilderness skills.
Scenario Day WFA Recertification ($175): Certified WFA student who wants to get recertified. This is a hybrid course and online course work needs to be completed before attending scheduled scenario day.
Scenario Day WFR Recertification ($225): Certified WFR student who wants to get recertified. This is a hybrid course and online course work needs to be completed before attending scheduled scenario day.
Practical Training Requirements
For WFR or WFA Recertification Students: To participate in practical training and earn certification, students are required to complete the online lessons BEFORE the remote training day. Students are expected to have an understanding of wilderness first aid knowledge and skills upon arrival to practical training. The practical training is focused on hands-on skills practice. Review of concepts and theories will be very limited.
Your WFA, or WFR Recertification
If you are signed up for this course as the practical hands-on portion of your Wilderness First Responder Recertification or Wilderness First Aid recertification you will need to pass the final assessment in order to receive your certification. After your Scenario Day you will receive a link via email to complete the appropriate final assessment.
The certification is valid for two years from the issue date. To maintain your certification, you must complete another WFR or WFA recertification course. Recertification must be completed no later than six months after your last certification expires.
We implement an alternating cycle of hands-on recertification to online recertification. This alternating cycle requirement means that students must participate in hands-on training every other recertification cycle. Hybrid courses, like this one, qualify as hands-on training participation.
Required Equipment for Scenario Day
The remote practical training requires students to demonstrate hands-on skills and the ability to assess patients experiencing various emergencies. Students must have the required equipment (list link coming soon) gathered before the start of the Zoom session.
